14 November Mingalar Boutique Hotel, Kawthaung, Myanmar
Hot sweaty morning
with mostly sun and usual haze. Partly cloudy afternoon. My included breakfast was
2 fried eggs, toast, 2 little plates of sticky rice sweets and 2 watermelon cubes.
Chris led us on a walking tour through old town with a visit to a packed temple
with kathin offerings and food. Then to statue-packed Pyi Daw Aye Pagoda with mirrored
chedi interior. We walked through a market with gold and other shops. Then aling
shore and up park hill to statue of king at BayintNaung Land. Then lunch of oily
small plates of Burmese food at local restaurant. I liked the pumpkin egg dish plus
Thai tea and mango shake.
Songtaew back to hotel, rain shower bath. In afternoon
we took a pair of three wheelers to Pulau Ton Ton and Palautonetone Beach on west
coast. Had a fizzy coconut. Then to nearby Victoria Cliff Hotel & Resorts for
snacks and drinks. I had a chocolate cake and cold green milk tea. Nice view and
landscaping. Afternoon felt restful after hot morning walk. At hotel I had vegetable
tempura and French fries.
