20 November Andaman Peace Resort, Kapoe District, Ranong
Mostly sunny,
wind out of the northeast kicked up waves on the long crossing. 18km, 4:16, 4.2km/hr
average. Nice plain omelet and toast breakfast plus earlier muesli and yogurt.
Got early start as wind expected to be increasingly strong. Pleasant paddle onward
to south tip of Ko Phayam, then long journey with variable wind and increasing waves.
I started with Mathilda, then on crossing Areeya took the front of the kayak, then
most of the way P. Oui took the front. Only Chris and Chow stayed together, in inflatable.
Easy once we reached mainland point with gentle breezes, mostly tailwinds, and gentler
waves. Two kayaks stopped at a tiny beach to stretch. Resort has a handy location
on a long beach. About 55km from center of Ranong. We had lunch, mango shake and
filling green curry for me, then rested in afternoon. Chris drove everyone to a
seafood restaurant for dinner, where I had tea and French fries as lunch was enough.
Chris booked bus tickets for Saturday on a Thai website.
