Introduction

At least once a year I like to travel to India and experience the culture there. Additionally I usually include another country or two and make a loop. This time I fly first to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia for a week of city sights and to enjoy the fine museums and architecture, then fly to Chennai of India’s Tamil Nadu state and stay 3½ weeks for the music and dance festivals held at multiple venues. Lastly I fly back to Bangkok and get ready for a bicycle for a ride in northern Thailand.

10 December Flight Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur
A nighttime flight gave me a full day in Bangkok with time to visit contemporary art exhibitions at River City Bangkok. A Grab taxi brought me to Don Mueang International Airport, where I easily checked in for Air Asia Flight AK897, then breezed through immigration and security. The Airbus A320 took to the sky on time at 9:35 p.m., then I gazed across the vast field of twinkling lights of greater Bangkok before the plane headed south over the Gulf of Thailand. Soon my meal of a cheese omelet arrived, part of a package purchased for my checked bag.
